Storage Tips
- You will need a high quality lock, a disc lock is recommended.
- Contact your insurance company on their requirements for homeowner’s coverage of your stored items.
- A moving dolly and two-wheel dolly will come in handy.
- Boxes should be labeled on all sides for ease in identification.
- Do not store any flammable fluids such as kerosene, gasoline, chemicals or paint.
- Drain the fuel from leaf blowers, chain saws and lawn mowers before storing.
- Store items you don’t expect to need in the rear of your unit and items you may need in the front.
- Use all available space such as dresser drawers and appliance spaces with small items like toys and towels.
- Disassemble larger items like shelving, bed frames, and tables. Remove the legs where possible on large furniture.
- Use Ziploc bags to store legs, screws and other small items and attach them to the larger pieces of furniture they go to.
- Use furniture coverings and moving pads to protect your valuable pieces.
- Store fragile boxes on top of heavier boxes.
